Utility of Wikipedia

Charles Petzold: “I used to scoff at Wikipedia — both the concept and the execution — but in recent months it’s popped up numerous times in Web searches to provide coherent and useful information. Obviously, I’m not the only person who has been using Wikipedia more and more: It’s also showing up higher on Google searches. Wikipedia is getting bigger and better at the same time.”

I agree with Charles- over time, I’ve found Wikipedia to be more useful even though I’m very skeptical given the lack of formal process for publishing articles. Still, I’ll use Wikipedia for this kind of information, “recreational research” if you will, without much hesitation.
