Apple warns potential Vista users about iTunes
From the “gee, thanks” department, itĀ seems that Apple is just now warning Windows users not to upgrade to Vista until they release a new update. Here’s the problem with that though- millions of people ran Vista prior to release, many as early as last Spring. And I can tell you, iTunes hasn’t worked well on Vista at any point over the past year. You have anecdotal evidence of the problems, but there is also a database with application compatibility data from tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of users and companies that have been testing application compatibility in Vista.
Does Apple have a responsibility to its users to get on board with Vista and fix these problems early? I think that’s a matter of opinion. But did Apple have the opportunity to address iTunes issues many, many months ago and save users a lot of pain in the process? Absolutely.
