User-oriented innovation in search

TechCrunch: “The main difference between SearchMe and other search engines is that it returns results primarily in a visual format, via an image of the result site. The results are displayed in a way that is similar to browsing through albums in iTunes.”

I’m interested in SearchMe because it is a great example of “user-oriented” innovation. By focusing on the user interface and user interaction rather than esoteric concepts such as relevancy, ad targeting algorithms and other search monetization priorities, SearchMe is positioned to provide users with a new paradigm for finding information and locating interesting sites on the web. I look forward to seeing more from these guys.
